Margo Lightbody, CRGS, CRVS

Ultrasound To Go is the product of over 25 years in human medicine and a deep passion for animal wellbeing. Margo started her career as a Respiratory Therapist in 1993 at the U of A Hospital in Edmonton. Expanded her skill set to Ultrasound through the Foothills Medical Centre in 2000, (prior to the inception of SAIT’s Sonography program). Her ultrasound career includes decades in the private sector, Foothills Medical Centre and even New Zealand. Having scanned thousands of patients, Margo is proficient in abdomen, (including bowel), MSK, small parts, vascular, and pregnancy exams. The hospital experience included assisting with ultrasound guided procedures, FNAs, biopsies etc.

For 8 years, Ultrasound To Go has been providing Calgary and area veterinarians with thorough, diagnostic ultrasound exams. Margo has completed training through Heska (Antech, formerly Scil), WAVE, and Sound continuing education courses focusing on Abdominal and Echocardiography. She continues to provide lab instruction for Heska (Antech) Education, for their various courses throughout Western Canada.

Registered with Sonography Canada as a non-practicing Sonographer, Margo carries malpractice insurance through their provider, the BMS group. All ultrasound images are sent to a Board Certified Veterinary Radiologist or Cardiologist. She has access to various independent Radiologists, Idexx and Antech Imaging Services, with preferred pricing.

In Margo’s spare time, you’ll find her on the golf course or cross country ski trails.

Daisy, her young Cockapoo keeps her busy walking around town and searching for that nondestructable toy!

Appointment Booking

Easily schedule in-house ultrasounds with options for STAT and same-day bookings. Exams are performed by certified professionals and require a Veterinarian’s request.
